Dear Friends, This letter may be a bit controversial but, hang in there with me. June 1st began the first day of Pride Month and I can honestly tell you I have been conflicted about this issue for a few years. How am I to respond as a believer, as a minister or as a child of God? This morning Chelsea sent me this painting and it turned my heart upside down. The author Frances Schaeffer said in his book “How Should We Then Live” – “If we do not show love to one another, the world has a right to question whether Christianity is true.” It brings me back to my question: How am I to respond? Just as God directed me over 40 years ago, “Betty, love my kids.” Friends, this is not a suggestion – it is a mandate. This mandate is not only for me, but for all who call themselves believers or Christians or followers of Christ. This painting is a reminder that Jesus died on the cross for every one of us, regardless of one’s religious or political beliefs and regardless of our sins. He says I love all my kids and I want you to love them too! “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” John 13:34 Thank you for empowering City Impact to love children, youth and families on Jesus’ behalf.
