Dear Friends,
In 2011, City Impact developed a Toy Drive for low-income children and youth. This event was hosted at my Chairman of the Board’s house. He and his family would start decorating right after Thanksgiving, Christmas lights were hung wooden characters would be placed around the yard and Christmas music was piped in. Then, my next-door neighbor built a Santa chair and friends painted backdrops of a winter wonderland now this masterpiece was completed for the neighborhood to enjoy. To give you a picture in your mind – do you remember the movie National Christmas Vacation, in which Clark Griswold has to have the perfectly decorated house? That was my friends Jim and Kris Stocks house. A few days later, City Impact staff would wrap up moving boxes and deliver them to local businesses, banks, churches and schools for donations of toys. In those eleven years, we have added hot cocoa and homemade cookies to be served to the kiddos, a Jolly Jumper was rented and a photo booth for pictures of Santa. Donors and friends have also started donating gift cards for families for food and clothing. One of our latest efforts has been to provide housing for a couple of weeks for a homeless mom and her four kids. The reason I am sharing this information with you is to let you know that through your support of City Impact we are giving on behalf of Jesus - gifts of love to those in need. No, it is not gold, frankincense and myrrh. But it is a warm meal, a toy under the tree more importantly we are sharing Jesus Christ’s ultimate gift. All in all, quite a Christmas gift we have personally received. Please continued to pray for us as our staff and many volunteers share this precious gift with others who have not yet experience it. Thank you for your continued love, prayer and financial support of City Impact this past year. God has blessed your gifts in assisting “at-risk” children, youth and families in our county. May you and your family experience the joy and blessings of Christ’s gift. Because of Him, Betty Alvarez Ham President |
