May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 Dear Friends,
Most of us celebrated Valentine’s Day in one way or another. Yes, it’s a day when we share tokens of love with friends, family and significant others. Over the past years, I have received many valentines – those from my husband and our daughter Chelsea have made their way to the “Save Box” to be cherished over the years. I loved the hand-drawn hearts with the doilies as frames and of course, all those XOXO’s at the bottom of the cards. And then, there are those love notes given to me by my husband even thinking about them brings a smile to my face. Yet, I believe the most significant expression of their love for me comes by the way of their continued forgiveness for areas in which I have fallen short. “It’s O.K. Mom, I know you tried to make it,” “I forgive you Honey, I know you had a stressful day.” It’s in those gestures that I am reminded of Christ’s continued love and forgiveness to me. Yet, as moving as many of the cards I read, recently I heard the best love story. It was about a conversation between a friend’s 2 year-old son and her father. James: Papa what’s this rock? Papa: I got that rock from where Jesus lived. (rocks from Jerusalem) James: You got that from your heart? Out of the mouth of babes, sweet James at such an early age understands that Jesus lives in his heart. What a wonderful story that correlates the unconditional love that God has for each of us.
