Unshakeable Hope

It was March 12th, I was at a County COVID-19 Meeting and by all indications we would anticipate no dramatic changes. Then, at 6pm the Governor of California declared a Medical State of Emergency and the Stay at Home order was to begin March 16th.  Life as we knew it changed, quarantine was required to our homes, school closures would be in effect (ultimately until the end of the school year), large gatherings were cancelled and social distancing requirements were implemented.  Almost everything that City Impact does and how we function was put on hold if not postponed or cancelled.

I could not begin to think through all the COVID-19 requirements necessary of us, and how would City Impact function in our ministry and pay our staff.  I can tell you there were many sleepless nights and tearful pleas to God for His direction and guidance.  Kevin and I had many long conversations and they always ended in prayer.  Since the existence of City Impact, we had experienced trials yet never like these circumstances - let alone have our world experience all of this with us. 
           
Unfortunately, City Impact needed to lay-off 1/3 of our staff and I was grieved over this decision. Yet, God gently nudged me – “Do you still trust me? Have I not been with you and have I not sustained City Impact for 25 years?  Will you trust me now?” This heart conversation brought me to the dialogue between Jesus and Peter. 
 
John 21:15-17 reads, When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again, Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you. “Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”
 
Yes Lord, I love you and we (City Impact) will feed your sheep.  In spite of the circumstances, the Hams and City Impact staff and board love you.  We will feed your sheep.  Will you help us to do so?  Thank you for your continued love, prayers and financial support.
