Dear Friends,

I’m on a plane returning from being with my close college friends/roommate. I can go on and on about Tim being my friend and brother who I would laugh and fight with. “My Ginger” brother from another mother.

He introduced me to his girlfriend and soon to be fiancé.  Bev mentioned she needed a roommate and why she thought I should be it.  Those two creeped deep into my life and I had the honor and privilege to co-officiate their wedding.  Tim and Bev became our dearest friends & family.

As I have spent the last few days with them, I cried and mourned with them over the loss of Bev’s step-father.  You all know when your loved ones hurt - you hurt.

I travelled to be with Bev, Tim and Diane (Bev’s mom), I knew I would be there to help with funeral arrangements. I did not anticipate my role with their sons - I’m Aunt Betty (God Mother) – I thought my role was to love them, cook for them but, not necessarily to help them process their pain, angst and anger (I’m better at cooking).  But, isn’t that when God flexes his muscles? In our weakness HE is made strong.  This is what I know:

▪️
Ron (Bev’s stepfather) is fully healed and rejoicing with our Father.

▪️
God & his Holy Spirit will wrap their loving arms around the family and comfort them.

▪️
God has begun a “good work” in Sam, Max and Jack (Tim and Bev’s sons) and He is faithful to complete it.

Thank you for your graciousness in allowing me to share my heart. I truly believe that the core of who City Impact is - is meeting people at their greatest need.

Because of Him,
Betty Alvarez Ham
President
