BETTY ALVAREZ HAM,

PRESIDENT OF CITY IMPACT

"Hopelifters need Hopelifters too!"

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11

Dear Friends,

It’s Monday night, and I am drying the last wine glass while reflecting upon this evening’s conversation.  It was a bit loud, quite animated and laughter filled the room.  These lovely ladies have not seen each other for our Jesus, Appetizers and Wine (JAW) time since the end of May.  After two years, these ladies have come to love each other.  Interesting they come from different walks of life, occupations and experiences, yet they depend on each other.  Monday night, they were all looking forward to hearing the stories of their little ones, husbands, work, travels, stressors but mostly to hear about their personal journeys.

This night is no different, we are reading through a devotional book together and to be honest, the questions are quite piercing in nature.  But, each one of them moved past their personal comfort zones into a place of vulnerability.  They conveyed their honest emotions, feelings, challenges and weaknesses.

This group of ladies help others in their healing process, in times of discouragement and the restoration of wounds.  They are literally “paying it forward” so in the future, today’s hurting people can be comforted and provide compassion to others.  These women are Hopelifters.

Hopelifters create transparency into personal connections, they draw on their own deep life experiences to provide comfort, encouragement and inspiration to those in need.  Hopelifters ultimately lead the hurting to a place of freedom and change through God’s transforming power.  I love them!

In the past three weeks, City Impact has sent out our Clinical Therapists and Outreach workers into 38 schools in Ventura County.  Every single one of them are Hopelifters and they desire to give Hope to those we serve daily.

Would you consider being a Hopelifter to my staff, will you pray and encourage them?  You see, Hopelifters need Hopelifters too!

Because of Him,
Betty Alvarez Ham
President
