Dear Friends, Next week, Kevin and I will be celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary. Oh, we were so in love and looked forward to our marriage as well as doing ministry as a couple. Young, naïve and bright eyed – little did we know that four years later we would be called to Ventura County to reshape Youth For Christ and develop City Impact. Just as the road we traveled in our marriage we experienced the highs and lows of ministry. The consistent factor has been God and his sovereignty. These past years, we have developed a greater need for Him and perhaps it is in knowing how very little we have to offer. Yet in this dependency, a deeper love for Christ has grown and even flourished. I love the story of the little boy who fell out of bed. When his mom heard the thud she went running into his room and asked what happened? He answered, "I don't know. I guess I stayed too close to where I got in." It is easy to do the same with our faith journey, our marriages or any other relationships. Our challenge as believers is not to make the mistake of the little boy. Don't stay too close to where you got in. It's risky resting on the edge. Thank you for your consistent love to the ministry of City Impact -- during these summer months your gifts are especially important. Together in Him, Betty Alvarez Ham President P.S.
