“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:9 Dear Friends, Years ago, Chelsea and I were walking hand in hand to her Pre-school class. “Mama, I like ice cream, swings, coloring and Barbie’s. What do you like?” I responded, “I like leaves changing colors, hot cider, curling up besides daddy and a fire in the fireplace.” This litany of “I likes” went back and forth for a few minutes and as Chelsea noticed the pumpkins decorating her classroom porch, she said excitedly, “Mama, you like Fall and harvest time.” Yes, Fall has always been my favorite season. Perhaps it’s the change in weather or the excitement of kids starting school, or smells of cinnamon and fresh bread baking and you can’t forget FOOTBALL - I just love it. I have also found Fall to be a time to reflect and evaluate, “This school year, what do we want to see happen in the lives of children, youth and families? How can we be more effective?” For the past 21 years, we have dreamed big dreams of ministry ventures and stayed committed to our vision. We have seen children and families reunited, incarcerated youth released from the juvenile facility and positively re-established in our community. We have witnessed parents not only graduate from our Parent Project classes, but come back and want to volunteer. We have also seen broken marriages restored and wounded hearts healed. As I write this letter, I am overwhelmed with God’s graciousness in my life and the awesome opportunity that He has given me to serve alongside a committed staff, board and group of volunteers. I am also overwhelmed by God’s faith that He has entrusted in City Impact to love, serve and minister to children, youth and families every day. Lastly, I am overwhelmed with the blessings of love; prayers and financial support that God has granted us through you our beloved donors; without you City Impact is a mere dream. This Thanksgiving, allow me to thank you once again for coming alongside us - together we will continue to share the message of hope, love and forgiveness.
