The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8 Dear Friends, I’ve been told by many people that I’m a positive thinker and I never give up. I choose to say I’m an optimistic realist. Yes, I am aware that I use facts and past events to give me life’s perspective and I do believe I have a firm grip on reality – yet, I choose to look for a positive outcome. Kevin told me as a boy, when his parents were getting him and his brothers ready to go back to school, they would have to go to bed earlier. One night, Kevin issued a firm complaint – you see he couldn’t understand why he would have to go to bed when the street lights weren’t even on. Isn’t that like a child- as long as there is energy in their little bodies they want to be up playing. Max Lucado tells of an evening when he was putting his then five year old daughter to bed and she whispered in his ear, “Daddy, I can’t wait until I wake up.” I love that attitude – an excitement about facing another day and all that it brings. That is my prayer for this new school year and with all the kids and families we will work with. I want to whisper in our Abba Father’s ear – Daddy, I can’t wait until I wake up. I can’t wait to face the opportunities that you have for City Impact’s staff and the Ham family and the challenges that will grow us as an organization and a family. Allow me to close with the wise words of Max, “Play hard, laugh hard and leave the worries to your Father – a bottomless well of optimism flooded by a perpetual spring of faith”. So, here’s to the ‘15-’16 school year and away we go!! Thank you for your continued love, prayers and financial support of City Impact. Please know your generosity makes a difference in the lives of youth and families. Looking forward to tomorrow, Betty Alvarez Ham President Comments are closed.
