Dear Friends, Since the conception of City Impact in 1995, we have had a theme for each year. This year, it was no different, our theme is Daring Faith. According to Webster’s dictionary daring is described as bold, brave, audacious, or adventurous. I love it – this year City Impact wants to act Daring in the work we do daily. When Chelsea was a wee thing, she would come into the kitchen while Kevin and I were cooking. She would then ask to sit her on the counter. What proceeded from that point was Chelsea standing and jumping into her daddy’s arms – 1 foot, 2, 3, 4 and eventually 5 feet from the counter. It was such a wonderful ritual they had until Chelsea jumped and her daddy wasn’t ready. Kevin caught her right before she hit the floor. My heart still pounds as I tell this story. Yet, our Abba father (Daddy), is always ready to catch us – in fact, He dares us to jump further and further from our safety net into HIS arms. The gospel of Mark 11:22-24 reads “Have faith in God! If you have faith in God and don’t doubt, you can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will. Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith.” Now, that’s bold! Through the years, I’ve come to realize that faith opens the door to miracles. In the Bible and history, you find that every time God moves on earth and does a miracle, it’s because somebody believed. Friends, this year I am praying bold, brave and adventurous prayers on behalf of children, youth and families we serve. I am praying heroic and courageous prayers on behalf of our staff and board. I am praying valiant and fearless prayers for loved ones struggling with illness and are discouraged. Finally, I am praying audacious and dauntless prayers on behalf of those who have not experienced the life-changing love of our God. Will you join me? Let’s jump off the counter of our safety nets into the loving arms of our Abba father. I look forward to hearing back from you on the miracles that God has performed on your life.
