Dear Friends,
About ten years ago, Chelsea informed me that I needed to board the social networking train. I was told it would be a great way to stay in touch with colleagues and friends of the past and it would be great advertisement and engagement for City Impact. But, I must confess I was a bit reluctant, another form of technology that I would have to learn and ultimately embrace. Chelsea set up my Facebook and Instagram accounts, downloaded pictures and my profile and I was set. Recently, I was trolling some networking bites. The two that caught my attention were from two young ladies, a junior and a senior, majoring in Liberal Arts – these once “knuckleheads” are in college to become teachers. I asked, "Why teach?" "Betty, there are many reasons, but one of them is, you and Kevin. In our school groups you taught us that we could succeed and become whatever we want to be. You guys loved us even when we were “knuckleheads”. Most of all, we remember coming to your house and having all of the Hams cook dinner and serve us -- that night ended with you telling us that Jesus really loved us. It is because of you both that we know Jesus -- Gracias!" City Impact's methodology is based on Jesus' example of going into the community, whether it be a house, a school, a jail or a neighborhood we are there. It is people like you that help us to do so by your continued love, prayers and financial support. Please know that you have made it possible for these two young ladies to hear and experience God’s love and now they have a beautiful calling in their lives to become teachers. Thank you for empowering us to do the work of the Kingdom. Together for Him, Betty Alvarez Ham President Comments are closed.
